Our Pastor
Pastor John's Family

You may think Pastor John Parker is caucasian when you see the bulletin or speak with him over the phone, but Pastor John is a 4th generation American of pure Korean descent.  His grandfather changed the name from Park to Parker in the early 1900's to do business during a time of intense discrimination.  Interestingly enough, all the males in the family continue to marry 1st generation females.  However, you cannot assume Pastor John understands Korean or speaks the language.  After all he only knew how to say "bab" and "kimchee" when they first met.  His wife, Pastor Shin, is the Education Pastor for the church.  They have two daughters, Pearl who is 16 and Jacqueline who is 13.

Pastor John's primary goal is to "equip the saints for the work of ministry..."  (Ephesians 4:12-16)  Through preaching God's Word, building relationships, and discipleship training, Pastor John is excited to see God transform this congregation into Living Hope for the world.  Pastor John was a Bishop Golden Scholar in 1994 for his involvement in the LA riots, which catapulted him to make a difference in the local and global community.  From 9/11 to Katrina, Pastor John has been active in leading the church in making a difference.

Pastor John graduated in 1995 with the Denman Preaching Award.  Those who are looking to grow in their knowledge of the Word of God can surely appreciate the depth and breadth of God's Word being revealed at Living Hope.

His favorite hobbies include motorcycling and restoration work.

He also serves on the board for JAMA (Jesus Awakening Movement for All).  Having a heart for training the next generation, he is also serves as a faculty member for the Global Leadership Development Institute.  Anyone 19-25 is encouraged to apply at www.jamagldi.org
